This is the classical Primary Series taught in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. Also known as Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy). It follows the the full primary series of the Ashtanga Vinyasa system.
Here we begin to breath with great precision and learn to practice without missing a single breath. Primary Series is the “original recipe” that has directly influenced many other forms of yoga. When a student becomes fluent in these postures, there is a strong foundation and the student is assured of having enough knowledge to practice on their own. Knowing this sequence also enables students to participate harmoniously in other Ashtanga classes all over the world. Each class ends with savasana and five minutes of meditation as well as a dharma talk led by the teacher.
Previous yoga experience is recommended for this class. This class is not for beginners; our Intro to Ashtanga class is recommended before taking this class.
