This is an introduction to the first section of the Ashtanga Intermediate Series. Postures from the Intermediate Series will be presented with key points for safe alignment explained, as well as techniques to make the postures more accessible.
The primary and intermediate series work together to form a balanced practice. It’s important for physical and mental health to practice both, because if you wait too long in primary while you ‘perfect’ various asanas, you could get injured by the constant repetition of forward bends. The intermediate series will help students open their shoulders and hips, which will improve their expression of the primary series postures.
The class is suitable for all levels, except complete beginners, and instruction is tailored to the group of students attending on any given day.
