Finding the Right Place

A few years ago I was dealing with a serious health issue and read a book “Reversing Heart Disease” written by a cardiologist. He claimed that it was possible to not only stop the progression of the disease but also to reverse it without the use of drugs or surgery. The therapy consisted of yoga and switching to a plant-based diet. So I started practicing yoga but after a few years felt like I needed to change.
After six months of trying different types of yoga, I walked into a studio with an ashtanga class. I knew right away that this is what I was looking for. I liked the sequence of postures but also the emphasis on breath and meditation. The teacher suggested that I check out Maya Yoga.
What I like about Maya Yoga is its focus on ashtanga and the great teachers like Jesse, Emily, and Karen. I don’t know if it was serendipity or providence but I feel like I found the right place.
