Trevor Karasek
RYT 500 HR
Trevor’s Yoga practice started in college back in 2013 after a friend invited him to take a Hot Power Vinyasa Yoga class. Yoga quickly became an addition to Trevor’s fitness journey. As he started to commute to Salt Lake City for work, he found a Hot Yoga Studio called “CorePower Yoga” that allowed him to practice both there and in Kansas City. He dropped his other fitness memberships and committed to Yoga. He found that there was just something different about Yoga that left him feeling more grounded, balanced, and more compassionate to himself, others, and the world around him. Yoga felt like the Union between his two halves, marrying science with art.
His relationship with Yoga grew enough that he knew he wanted more, but did not know if he would be able to commit to completing a 200Hr Teacher Training. He opted for a Yoga Sculpt Certification in 2017. After completing it and starting to teach Yoga Sculpt at CorePower Yoga, he knew his passion was actually in the Yoga side. By chance, his work travels took a hiatus for a couple of months just as his Yoga Studio was starting its next 200Hr Training, and he signed up and completed his 200Hr on July 1, 2018. Trevor began to diversify what classes he taught- from Yoga Sculpt to Power Vinyasa to Hot Yoga Fusion.
Trevor began seeking out Teachers in different disciplines. He learned from senior teachers at Corepowers from different states, attended Bikiram/26&2 trainings across the globe, and sought out independent privates to further his knowledge and elevate his teaching ability.
Eventually, his desire to learn led him to take his first Ashtanga class at Maya Yoga with Kino MacGregor in 2020. Trevor connected with Ashtanga very intensely and signed up for Maya’s 300Hr Teacher Training program, which he accomplished in 2022.
His classes contain a great combination of thoughtful sequencing grounded in his interest in empirical science and understanding of yoga philosophy. You’ll find his yoga flows to be invigorating, accessible, and challenging. Trevor has the profound ability to meet his students where they are; connecting with each of them from beginner to advanced practitioners. He’s been a long-time practitioner at Maya and invites you to class to share a love of yoga, which he’s discovered from his own practice.
