John Moran

500 HR E-RYT

John’s journey into yoga began with a recommendation from his chiropractor to address a mild case of scoliosis. He started practicing Vinyasa flow, which eventually led him to a teacher training program. During the training, he wanted to explore all styles offered and discovered Ashtanga through Maya Yoga. After his first class, he was hooked.

He completed his 200-hour yoga training, followed by an Ashtanga teacher training with Maya Yoga, as well as a three-year apprenticeship with Wade and Kathleen. He is a 500-hour registered teacher with Yoga Alliance and focuses exclusively on Ashtanga.

“I feel that real change only happens through constant practice. Imagine yoga is like water—if the water runs once a week on a dirt trail, there will be some change. But if that same water runs every day along the same path, there will be major change.”

“Modifications are a must because not everyone’s body can perform the asana in its fullest form. Remember, even Pattabhi Jois modified the series based on the student.”

John has completed workshops and training with Tim Miller, Manju Jois, Jorgen Christiansson, Kino MacGregor, David Garrigues, Ricky Tran, Simon Park, David Miller, David Swenson, Kia Naddermier, and many more.

John and his wife are squirrel rehabilitators. He is the proud father of one daughter, a stepdaughter, and a stepson, as well as a dog and a cat who enjoy helping to raise the squirrels.
